Training from Lake Wales
About 25 minutes north of Lake Wales on US-27 and Cypress Gardens Blvd.
Lake Wales is about 25 minutes south of us on US-27, and the families who make that drive do it for the coaching staff: a Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and a Master of Sport of International Class in Judo with 16 years on the Ukrainian National Team. That combination is not something you find in most small-town gyms.
Wednesday is Judo day across the kids, homeschool and adult classes, so Lake Wales students who want takedowns and throws often build their week around it — and use the Friday evening open mat to put it all together.
